Where do I go to get my car?
The car rental desks are located next to the Baggage Reclaim in Terminal A on Level 1. If you are travelling with Travel City Direct, that is where you will also meet your representative. There are lots of car rental desks all in a row. Dollar’s desk is easy to spot. Travel City Direct has its own dedicated Dollar check-in desk on the opposite side of the hall, by the windows and next to the Travel City Direct signage. Your holiday rep will direct you to the right place. This is where you hand over your documentation, sign your rental agreement and have your car allocated.
Once you have checked in and picked up your keys (and your sat nav if you have booked one), it’s a very short walk over the road to the car rental garage. The Dollar kiosk is the second along on the right and is clearly signposted. When you get to the garage, you will be given your car seats and shown to your choice of cars. If you need any help with the car controls, just ask a Dollar agent who will pleased to help. Remember, most rental cars are automatic drive, and many have a foot-operated brake. Ask the agent if you can’t find it!
What do I need and who needs to be there?
When you go up to the car rental desk, you and anyone else wishing to drive will need to present your valid driving licence (both counterparts). You will also be asked to present your car rental voucher and a valid credit card in the lead driver’s name for deposit purposes. Only named drivers have to be present for this process in order to sign the rental agreement, so any other adults can take the kids for a drink or a bite to eat if need be. Go up to Level 2 and look for the food court – there are plenty of drinks and snacks available there.
What will you be offered at the car rental desk? What do I do about fuel?
You’ll be offered add-ons such as Pass 24 (which allows you free access through the tolls), and Sat Nav. If you have booked through Travel City Direct, you can prepay your fuel by cash or credit card. You then return the car empty which is easier than trying to find a garage to fill up on your way back to the airport.
Free maps are available at the counter and the Dollar check in staff will highlight the route you need to take to your hotel in Orlando.
