What else should I consider booking?

If you are travelling with babies and children, you might want to consider eliminating all the stress and hire a satellite navigation system for your holiday. It’s a good idea to book and pay for this before you travel. The system can be programmed to take you right to the door of your hotel, to all the attractions, and back to the airport and really does take all the worry out of driving. Of course, if you have your own satellite navigation system programmed for the States, you are welcome to bring that along instead.

If you book a sat nav with Travel City Direct and Dollar, you will be asked to leave an imprint of your credit card when you pick up your car. Look after your sat nav system carefully. At Orlando, a deposit of around $500 will be taken from your card if you don’t return it at the end of your holiday.

You can also consider upgrading your car rental to Travel City Direct Platinum package. This gives you unlimited additional drivers (over the age of 25) and a tank of fuel included in your rental, and can be pre booked and paid for.

Deposits

When renting a car with Dollar, you will be required to leave a $100 per week holding deposit on a credit card and around a $500 holding deposit on a sat nav. This money is all refunded on safe return of the car and sat nav.

Do I need insurance?

Insurance is included in the price of all car rentals with Dollar Rent a Car if you book through Travel City Direct. You should check what is and isn’t included if you have booked with another operator, or direct with a car rental company. 24-hour breakdown service is included with Dollar’s rates to give you peace of mind. There is also the option of purchasing ‘Roadsafe’. Roadsafe covers you for things that are considered the fault of the driver, such as losing keys or running out of fuel. Without Roadsafe, you would be required to pay a call-out fee for this kind of incident.
