Car rental in Orlando
With babies and infants, getting around becomes a whole new ball game, especially when you’re in a different country. Happily, driving in Florida is easy. The roads are wide, the signposts are clear, the cars are usually automatic, and parking is readily available. It’s also easy to rent a car in Orlando and your best option is to book this at the same time as you book your holiday. If you are travelling with Travel City Direct, your Orlando car rental will be with Dollar Rent a Car and will be included in the cost of your holiday. Here, our friends at Dollar Rent a Car, Orlando, will take you through everything you need to know.
When should I rent my car and what sort of car should I book?
The best thing to do is to book your car with your holiday. With Travel City Direct, the cost of your holiday includes a rental car for the duration of your stay.
What else should I consider booking?
If you are travelling with babies and children, you might want to consider eliminating all the stress and hire a satellite navigation system for your holiday. It’s a good idea to book and pay for this before you travel.

What’s the law around car seats in Florida?
All children under the age of four must be secured in a federally approved child restraint seat (that’s a car seat to you and me!). Children over four can wear seatbelts. Just like in the UK, it is a legal requirement for adults to wear a seatbelt in Florida.

Driving tips in Florida
Driving in Orlando isn’t vastly different from driving in the UK apart from the obvious fact that you drive on the other side of the road. In Orlando and the surrounding areas, roads tend to be in a grid formation meaning it is mostly straights and right angle turns.

What should I do when I come back at the end of my holiday?
When you come back to the airport, follow the signs towards Terminal A or B, depending upon the airline you are travelling with. Each is clearly signposted on the approach road. If you are travelling with Virgin Atlantic, as a Travel City Direct customer you’ll need Terminal A. Follow the signs for car rental drop-off, then look for signs to Dollar and/or Dollar Thrifty.
